Exciting collaboration with photographer Patrick Causse
Working with French photographer Patrick Causse.
How did I get to work with Patrick Causse? is a question many people have asked.
Firstly let me introduce myself: I’m Rodney Prosser and I record music and paint but I go under the name Lord Prosser. I’m not a Lord with land and money, it’s more of a stage name for concerts and my art.
In July 2024 I shared an art exhibition with ten artists at the Parisian gallery Kiff et Marais. Patrick Causse was exhibiting his photographs of women and I was speechless; they were different and daring. Patrick showed appreciation for my pigeon paintings with women in bright coloured surroundings.
In November Patrick suggested I try painting on some of his photographs. It was a case of daring to do something that might not work and might ruin his work but with luck the result would be cool. Like spraying a smiley on the Monalisa could really destroy it or it could should a new attitude.
I worked on five of his photographs and Patrick was like “wow” and gave me another 20 to do, I worked during the night and returned the work to him. He was really into the ideas big time and called me to come and check them out in their new frames. Then I was thinking “this is real cool”.
Patrick’s photographs are mostly in black and white and my paint colours and collages and sketches show them in a new way.
I am really proud of the result and would like to reassure you that it was trial and error and some of the work was left to one side. Without doing dangerously ill advised things you don’t inspire people as much, people like risks.
The photos are full of messages: statements about freedom for women, rallying for the right to express ourselves.
Fighting oppression and puritanical ideology. Rejecting corruption and lies.
