UB40 who I largely preferred in their earlier years. They never topped their first album and wanted to imagine their album recording session. I used to rehearse in their studio DEP STUDIOS in 1986 but never met them. I just spoke to Brian Travers (saxophonist) who liked a demo I did with a friend Geoff Rowley.
New Order who I equally never met but I was into them. I used to listen to them while I was painting and making fanzines. I don’t think they were great musicians but sounded incredibly cool when combined together and they were more important than The Sex Pistols because they didn’t have a snarly attitude. A lot of bands grew out of this time because of New Order.
Moby Grape were a great band, their manager blocked them from using their name so they went through hell. This album is totally cool.
